Jake Nelson
Specialization: Communications and marketing, media, website maintenance, eventing; recruiting
Jake tackles communications needs under the supervision of the department head in collaboration with the Institute of Agriculture’s Offices of Communications and Marketing and Information Technology Services and Herbert College of Agriculture. Managing departmental social media, implementing its strategy, and crafting all content is a creative outlet. Skilled in writing press releases, Jake is able to serve as a project's media contact. Administering the departmental website, including maintenance, troubleshooting and creating pages, Jake is responsible for deciding navigation, aesthetics, and discerning analytics on the WordPress platform. Jake assists the department with event planning, and is keen on developing special details to welcome others. Under the institute's branding guidelines, Jake also supports Communications and Marketing devising certain graphic design projects.
Jake serves multiple groups at the institute including the Website Advisory Committee, Energy and Environmental Science Building Task Force, and Travel Advisory Group.
Jake is a 2017 Herbert alumnus in the Master of Agricultural Leadership, Education, and Communications Department. So, he especially enjoys informing students and their families about the varied careers an education in agriculture offers. Since finding opportunities in feeding, clothing, housing, and deepening the meaning of an ever changing world is requisite, educating students as a future workforce is more important than ever before.
Jake liaises to stakeholders, especially Tennessee citizens, communicating faculty, staff, and student work.
Jake continues the Land-Grant mission recruiting students who will learn while researching and experiencing agriculture.
Jake pragmatically extends faculty, staff, and student research to diverse audiences, as the institute's most complicated studies are always transformed into Real. Life. Solutions.
