Overview

As the Assistant Director of Advising and Student Success at the Herbert College of Agriculture, Amber is dedicated to fostering collaborative, inclusive, and student-centered relationships that facilitate academic achievement, promote personal and professional growth, and create a strong sense of community and belonging. Her key responsibilities encompass the development, facilitation, and assessment of a proactive and holistic academic advising model, guiding students from orientation through graduation.


Amber also plays a crucial role in supervising, leading, training, and nurturing student success advisors, ensuring that advising activities prioritize a student-centered, caring, holistic, inclusive, and culturally aware approach. She actively addresses and resolves concerns raised by students, advisors, or college administration, ensuring a responsive support system.


In addition to her core responsibilities, Amber takes the lead in organizing the College's new student orientation, contributing to curriculum development, teaching AGNR 100, advising students within the Agricultural Exploratory program, and serving as a valuable resource for faculty, advisors, and students in navigating university policies and procedures related to academic advising and student success. She also represents the College across the campus by participating in various university committees, councils, and task forces.

Students must complete ANSC 100 with a grade of C or better to remain in the major of Animal Science.

Registration Restriction(s): Restricted to animal science majors only.
