I am interested in amphibian disease ecology and conservation. I often focus on interactions between hosts, pathogens, and microbiomes. I am currently studying the spread of diseases in the amphibian pet trade. Specifically, I am interested in how husbandry conditions can impact microbiome health (including diversity, structure, and function), and how microbiome health then influences host health and the host's ability to respond to pathogens. I hope to identify best practices to improve amphibian health and reduce pathogen transmission within the pet trade, thereby reducing the risk of pathogen spillover to wild populations and protecting vital amphibian biodiversity.
