Jessica Dee Garcia, DVM

Medical Resident | Large Animal
Overview

Dr. Garcia is a Large Animal Medicine Resident through the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine. Her main area of work is in farm animal care with a special interest in small ruminant, companion pig, and camelid medicine and soft tissue surgery. She completed her Master's degree in Comparative and Experimental Medicine Summer 2024 with a focus on pharmacokinetics of analgesic drugs in goats. Her research interest include farm animal welfare, anti-microbial stewardship, and gastroenterology. Dr. Garcia has taught farm animal lectures and labs to veterinary students, as well as has provided Continuing Education at the local, national, and international level.


Professional Goals

Post-residency, Dr. Garcia aspires to work in an academic environment where she is able to combine her interests of clinical medicine, teaching, and research. Her future goals will be to listen and learn from her community in order to develop research that can be directly applied to real world circumstances to help advance animal care and welfare with the specific needs of animal owners in mind.
