Overview

My teaching and research programs focuses on farm business management decisions that help producers maximize profits and/or manage risk. The goal of these programs is to enhance the long-term economic sustainability of farm businesses in Tennessee and across the United States. I work with multidisciplinary teams of scientists and Extensions Specialists to identify relevant and important real-world questions and to develop practical solutions. This research enhances my teaching program of farm financial management, investment analysis of technology adoption, data analysis, and land valuation. I have co-developed an AREC study aboard course to Argentina focused on the their global agricultural supply chain.

BSE 231 - Biochemistry for Engineers
3 credit hour(s)

Fundamentals of biochemistry presented from an engineering point of view and applied to solve engineering-related problems. Topics to be covered include fundamental organic chemistry of amino acids, carbohydrates, lipids and other important biochemicals; the role and control of pH in biological solutions; fundamental biochemistry of proteins and enzymes; introduction to bioenergetics and metabolic pathways, and the replication, transcription, and translation of DNA.

(RE) Prerequisite(s) : CHEM 122* and CHEM 123*, and MATH 132* or MATH 141*.

BSE 321 - Biothermodynamics, Heat, and Mass Transfer
3 credit hour(s)

Application of thermodynamics to biological systems; heat transfer with emphasis upon conduction and convection applications; introduction to diffusion mass transfer.

(RE) Prerequisite(s) : BSE 221 or ENVE 200.

BSE 650 - Selected Topics
1 - 3 credit hours

Lecture, group discussion, and individual study on specialized developments.

Repeatability: May be repeated. Maximum 6 hours.
Registration Restriction(s): Minimum student level - graduate.
