Overview

Charles Denney has produced more than 1,000 video pieces in two decades at UTIA. He does TV news stories for stations across Tennessee and several nationally syndicated programs, and he’s racked up more than 2.5 million hits on YouTube. He also produces podcasts, print articles, award speeches, and handles media requests. He’s won more than two dozen awards from the Association of Communications Excellence (ACE). Denney has also worked in TV news and law enforcement media relations, and holds a master’s degree from UT Knoxville and an undergraduate degree from Western Kentucky University. Away from work, his favorite thing to do is play golf. His all-time low score is 70, and he has three hole-in-ones, including one in the 110-degree heat of the Arizona desert. He’s acted in about two dozen crime re-creation TV shows and about a dozen local commercials. Other hobbies include tennis, hiking, reading, and travel. Denney has an undying love for the Tennessee Vols, Tennessee Titans, Nashville Predators, and St. Louis Cardinals. A native of Lebanon, he is proud of his children—Sam, a 2016 food science graduate, and Meredith, a 2019 arts and sciences graduate.
