Deb Moitra
I am a materials chemist and Postdoctoral Research Associate at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, with research interests in sustainable energy materials, heterogeneous catalysis, and carbon management. My work centers on the rational design of nanostructured catalysts, ionic-liquid-modified materials, MXene–perovskite composites, and porous carbon architectures for direct air capture of CO₂, sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) synthesis, chemical-looping ammonia production, and electrocatalysis.
I received my Ph.D. in Chemistry from BITS Pilani and have broad experience spanning nanomaterials synthesis, structure–property relationships, and energy-conversion processes. My research integrates fundamental chemistry with translational impact, and I am deeply interested in mentoring students, interdisciplinary collaboration, and advancing sustainable technologies through education and research.
