Overview

Sandy Lindsey is the Chief Information Security Officer for the University of Tennessee Institute of Agriculture. She has sole responsibility for the IT Security Program at the Institute, which employs approximately 2500 people in 21 on-campus departments, including those with AgResearch, the College of Veterinary Medicine, Extension, and the Herbert College of Agriculture, as well as 10 AgResearch and Education Centers, Extension offices in all 95 counties, three regional Extension offices, and four 4-H Centers. She is responsible for the Institute’s IT Security policies and procedures; audit reporting; risk assessments; consulting; training; PCI, HIPAA, FERPA, and GLBA compliance; and forensics, along with other IT security services.

While Sandy has worked for the University of Tennessee (the Institute, UT Chattanooga, UT Knoxville, and UT System Administration) since 1991, she has been dedicated to IT Security since 2002. Sandy has earned and maintained the Certified HIPAA Professional (CHP) certification, as well as the AccessData Examiner (ACE) certification, among various other certifications over the years. She has also won several employee awards, such as the UTIA Professional and Academic Award for Outstanding Service, UTK OIT Rockstar Award, UTSA Employee of the Month award, and UTSA Employee of the Year award during her time at UT. She feels her biggest professional achievement is working hard and persevering to become the first, and only, female CISO throughout the UT System.

Sandy enjoys all aspects of cybersecurity and particularly enjoys helping users better understand cybersecurity, as well as researching the latest technologies for digital forensics. When not working, Sandy is a very passionate fan of the New York Yankees. She is also an animal lover who is crazy about cats.
