Timmy Carter
Timmy serves in employer engagement and career development for the Herbert College of Agriculture, where he brings passion, energy, and a student-first mindset to preparing Herbert students for life after graduation. He is deeply committed to connecting students with meaningful internship and full-time career opportunities by cultivating strong employer partnerships and aligning industry needs with student talent. Timmy also oversees the Herbert Scholars program and is a strong advocate for experiential learning, working toward a vision of 100% internship participation among Herbert students.
A native of Knoxville, TN, Timmy grew up just minutes from campus and is a proud graduate of the University of Tennessee’s Herbert College of Agriculture, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in food science. He began his professional career in the poultry industry with JBS Foods as a Development Management Trainee before spending three years with Pilgrim’s in Chattanooga, TN, leading and overseeing live poultry operations across Tennessee, Georgia, and Alabama. He later transitioned into business development and account management with a local small business, Guidance Advisors, where he focused on building and maintaining client relationships, developing strategic growth initiatives, and guiding partners through a thoughtful, relationship-driven onboarding process.
Timmy is passionate about developing the next generation of agricultural leaders and desires for Herbert to feel like home—not only during a student’s time on campus, but throughout their career journey as alumni. He currently lives in Karns, TN, with his wife, Gracie, and together they enjoy traveling the globe, experiencing new food, and immersing themselves in new cultures.
Outside of work, Timmy enjoys spending time outdoors with his German Shorthaired Pointer, playing disc golf, tending to his garden, and cheering on the Tennessee Vols and Pittsburgh Steelers.
