Overview

Cassio Ferrigno was born and raised in Sao Paulo, Brazil. He graduated in Veterinary Medicine from the Universidade Estadual Paulista Júlio de Mesquita Filho (1991), received his Master's in Clinical Veterinary Surgery from the University of o Paulo (1995), and Ph.D. in Clinical Veterinary Surgery from the University of o Paulo (2000) and post-doctorate at the University of Florida in 2006-2007 where he also completed a residency for the American College of Veterinary Surgery in 2021. He was a full professor at the University of o Paulo from 2002 to 2018 and head of the Small Animal Orthopedics Service at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at USP. He has been an instructor for AOVET- "Arbeitsgemeinschaft fur Osteosynthesefragen" (Association for the Study of Internal Fixation, Switzerland) since 2010. He served as chairperson of AOVET Latin America from 2015 to 2018, and chairperson of AOVET Community Development from 2016 to 2021. He is currently an Assistant Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.

Clinical Focus

He has great interest in corrective osteotomies of angular limb deformities, circular fixators, treatment and rehabilitation of patients with significant bone trauma, and knee disorders in dogs.
