“As a young child, I knew I wanted to pursue a career allowing me to help families and make a positive impact whenever possible. UT Extension has given me the opportunity to serve the wonderful families of Hardin County. It is my hope that through my programming, I am able to give youth and adults new ideas and a better understanding of how to be healthy, safe, and happy. It is a true honor to work for UT Extension in the community where I was born, raised, and now rearing my own daughter.” Sondra Ganus Thorne is the County Director and Family and Consumer Sciences Agent for the UT Extension office in Hardin County. She began her career in Extension in Alabama but her home roots pulled her back to Tennessee where she has worked for the last 15 years. Sondra has a BS in Sociology from the University of North Alabama and a BS and MS in Family and Consumer Sciences from the University of Alabama. She conducts programs in all areas of Family and Consumer Sciences across the county. Her focus is nutrition and well-being for all ages.
