Kathryn Alexandra Conrad

Dr. Katie Conrad holds a PhD and M.S. in Child & Family Studies from the University of Tennessee. From 2016 to 2024, she served as a Human Development Extension Specialist, overseeing OST/Afterschool grants (LEAPs, 21st Century, CYFAR) that provided free before- and after-school programs for low-income K-12 students. Her role encompassed grant coordination, writing, technical assistance, curriculum development, and professional training.
In 2024, Dr. Conrad transitioned to a Web-Based Specialist, focusing on enhancing TNCEP/SNAP-Ed virtual programs to merge her human development expertise with nutrition education for low-income Tennesseans. Her current work involves developing and expanding Human Development/SNAP-Ed curricula using innovative technologies, web-based learning, and conducting grant writing, research, evaluation, and professional training.
Dr. Conrad’s expertise centralizes on resiliency outreach to underserved children and families through the integration of trauma-informed approaches to FCS-Extension education. She specializes in mental health education, substance use recovery, program evaluation, and school-based interventions that support youth development. She is a certified Youth Mental Health First Aid Instructor (Dec. 2023) and is set to complete her certification as an Adult Mental Health First Aid Instructor in Summer 2025.
