Dr. Husnik is a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (Small Animal Internal Medicine). He graduated in 1999 from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Veterinary and Pharmaceutical Sciences Brno, CZ. He then accepted the position of an Assistant Professor of Small Animal Internal Medicine with a focus on gastroenterology and endoscopy at the same institution. He earned a Ph.D. in veterinary sciences from the University of Veterinary and Pharmaceutical Sciences Brno, CZ. He moved to Louisiana State University to complete his residency in Small Animal Internal Medicine and Post-doctoral Research Fellowship in Small Animal Endocrine and Metabolic Diseases in 2012. Dr. Husnik was a Research Associate in the Gastrointestinal Laboratory at Texas A&M University, a Visiting Assistant Professor at Ontario Veterinary College, University of Guelph, and a Visiting Assistant Professor at Purdue University. Dr. Husnik’s clinical research interests include gastrointestinal motility and gut microbiota in health and disease.
Dr. Husnik studies small animal gastroenterology. Specifically, his interests include gastrointestinal motility and gut microbiota in health and disease.
Dr. Husnik works with veterinary students, interns, and residents to train them in small animal internal medicine practices.
