Dr. Marti Drum, DVM, PhD, DACVSMR CCRP, CERP

Overview

Dr. Marti Drum grew up riding and showing Thoroughbred horses which led to an interest in Veterinary Sports Medicine and Physical Rehabilitation. She received her DVM from Colorado State University in 2006. Dr. Drum also received a PhD in Equine Orthopedics from the Colorado State University Equine Orthopedic Research Center in 2006 where her research focused on subchondral bone density mapping in racehorses and non-racing horses. She became a Clinical Instructor in the Small Animal Physical Rehabilitation Service at the University of Tennessee in 2006, and was advanced to Clinical Assistant Professor of Small Animal Physical Rehabilitation in 2008. Dr. Drum has a widely varied background, drawing from her experience with Physical Rehabilitation in multiple species, including horses, camelids, pigs, sheep, chickens, avian/exotic pets, zoo animals and of course dogs and cats. In her role as acting service chief of the physical rehabilitation service, Dr. Drum instructs veterinary students, veterinarians, veterinary technicians, physical therapists, and physical therapy assistants in Veterinary Physical Rehabilitation clinical rotations, as well as the University of Tennessee Certificate Program for Canine Rehabilitation.

VMP 840 - Musculoskeletal System

Pathophysiology, clinical description and basic treatment modalities of common diseases and conditions of skeletal system of small animals: development of basic diagnostic and treatment skills. Special pathology, medicine and surgery of diseases of muscular and skeletal systems. Advanced principles, radiographic interpretation and surgical procedures.

VMP 870 - Special Studies in Veterinary Medicine

Grading Restriction: Satisfactory/No Credit grading only.
